Framing: 3 tips to put a person best in the picture

Want to finally get the person telling your story framed right? Here's what you need to know to get the framing done correctly!

1. Placement:

The art of framing determines the visual expressiveness of your video. Make sure your main subject is properly placed - divide your image vertically into thirds and place the person either centered, or on one of the thirds lines.

2. Perspective:

We want to communicate at eye level! Hold the camera at this height accordingly. If you also divide your image horizontally into thirds, the person's eyes should be on the upper third line. To do this, tilt your phone to the right position to leave little "headspace" - that's the space above your head to the top edge of the video.

3. Setting:

It's best to put the person in the "semi-close" or "close" shot setting - that is, up to below the belly or below the chest. You can also switch between these settings to add a little variety - especially for longer scenes.

Try it out and film yourself or a colleague and put yourselves in the spotlight! You will see how the attention of the viewers increases and how more and more people can identify with your video.
